Last Friday, my oldest had a day off from school and we made one of his favorite breakfast treats, cinnamon rolls. Of course, when my 8 year old is in the kitchen he always tries to add a “kid inspired” twist to everything we cook. This cooking adventure was no different and we had cinnamon rolls with green icing & Halloween sprinkles served on monster plates.
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2½ cups Bisquick mix
- ⅔ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
- ¼ cup raisins (optional)
- Heat oven to 375 degrees and grease or spray non-stick cooking spray on a 13"x9"x2" pan.
- Stir together 2 tbs of sugar and 1½ tbs of cinnamon (save for later)
- Stir Bisquick mix, milk, and the other 2 tbs sugar until dough forms. If dough becomes to sticky, add additional Bisquick mix to make dough easy to handle.
- Turn dough onto surface well dusted with Bisquick and shape into a ball
- Knead dough 10-15 times and Roll into a rectangle approximately 15"x9"
- Spread with softened butter and evenly sprinkle the cinnamon/sugar mixture on top
- Evenly sprinkle raisins (I used more than ¼ cup)
- Roll up tightly (begin at the 15" side)
- Cut into 1¼" slices and place into paln
- Bake 20-25 minutes until a light, golden brown. Cool 5 minutes and top with icing mixture (see below)
